Family and friends of Matthew Duke arrived at the February club day to honour Matt’s memory, proudly wearing t-shirts featuring “Dukey 44”
“Dukey”‘s number 44 kart raced as a tribute, but the kart did not want to cooperate – proving troublesome early on, then blowing an engine in practice, before the first race.
A replacement engine was sourced at the 11th hour by Rodney Duke, and the 44 kart , piloted by Luke Fong, went on to fittingly win both heats and the final in Clubman light.
Those paying tribute included: Matthew’s parents, Kerrie and Rodney Duke; Sister Stacey Wimshurst and nephew Jacob Wimshurst; Uncle Mick Duke and Aunty Thais Duke; Emma Handford, Laura Handford, Sally Parkins, Karlie Handford, Kelly Jones, Koby Simpson, Michelle Watson, Anthony Watson , Miah Watson and Luke Fong
